The Supreme Court upheld the sentence of the couple who planned the murders of 42 people. They were sentenced to 24 and 22 years in prison.

The Supreme Court upheld the sentence of the couple convicted of preparing to kill 42 people and illegal actions with weapons, ammunition and explosive devices. They were sentenced to 24 and 22 years without a fine. This was reported in the Prosecutor General’s office.
Preparing murders for revenge for his son
As established in the case, the couple joined a stable organized group led by their son. The participants developed a plan of murders out of revenge for bringing him to criminal responsibility for especially malicious hooliganism and intentional infliction of less serious bodily harm.
The list of potential victims included judges, prosecutors, other law enforcement officers, medical workers, victims and other citizens involved in the criminal proceedings of their son, as well as their relatives.
From April 2020 to August 2024, the group purchased and manufactured firearms, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices. In addition, they collected information about the intended victims and explored possible escape routes after crimes.
In August 2024, law enforcement officers detained the spouses and stopped their activities.
The case against the son was dismissed due to his death
The Minsk Regional Court terminated the proceedings against the head of the group on December 24, 2025 due to his death. It included an episode of murder and attempted murder committed by him on November 8, 2021 on Rokossovsky Avenue in Minsk.
Supreme Court hears appeals
The Minsk Regional Court sentenced the couple on July 6, 2026. They were found guilty of preparing as part of an organized group to kill two or more persons, as well as their relatives in connection with official activities and the performance of public duty, in a generally dangerous way. They are also charged with illegal actions with weapons, their components, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices.
The spouses did not admit their guilt. Together with the lawyers, they appealed the verdict.
The judicial board for criminal cases of the Supreme Court, taking into account the position of the prosecutor, recognized the arguments of appeals as untenable. The sentence was left unchanged and entered into force.
