Windows 11 smartened: the new update will free up to 2 GB of RAM
XDA journalists tested the latest version of the 26H2 and found a nice bonus for users, but there is an important nuance for owners of weak PCs.

Microsoft continues to methodically polish its operating system. The latest update of Windows 11 under the index 26H2 brought not only traditional bug fixes, but also a very pleasant surprise for owners of modern machines – a noticeable optimization of RAM consumption.
XDA journalist Abhinav Raj conducted his own visual experiment. He compared the system before and after the update on the powerful Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop, equipped with 32 GB of RAM. The result was impressive: just five minutes after the reboot (with exactly the same apps in the boot) “clean” Windows 11 version 25H2 took up 8.5 GB of memory. But the new assembly of the 26H2 required only 6.7 GB. It's almost two gigabytes apart!
However, not everyone should be happy. Having studied thematic forums and reviews of real users, the author of the material noticed a clear pattern: a tangible increase in performance and real memory release are confirmed mainly by owners of computers with 16 GB of RAM and above. Users of budget laptops with 8 GB of RAM have not yet reported such magical changes.
However, if your computer begins to “think” due to lack of resources, installing the current version of Windows 11 can be an easy and free way to breathe new life into it and win a little freedom for heavy applications.
