Caring and majestic moose mother with a child was filmed in the Vsevolozhsky district

Biologist Pavel Glazkov published touching photos taken in the Vsevolozhsky district: they depicted a moose mother walking with her adult cub. Staff shared in his channel “Max” Governor Alexander Drozdenko.

The baby caring moose is now about six months old. When elk is born, they are born bright red, but by autumn their coat changes color and they become indistinguishable from adults. At the moment, his young age gives only size. However, by the middle of the winter season, the cub will be almost the same size as its mother.

“It is too early to leave her. Usually, moose stay next to their mothers until spring - until they have new offspring, Drozdenko said.

Young moose will later have to start living on their own. According to the regional Committee for the protection of wildlife, the number of moose in the region is about 26 thousand individuals. Moose usually have one baby, but sometimes twins are born. Triplets in moose are an exceptional phenomenon and are extremely rare.
