Deputy mayor Liksutov: this year in the Moscow metro repaired 228 es-calators

Since the beginning of 2026, capital and medium repairs of 228 escalators have been carried out in the Moscow Metro. Seventeen more repairs will be completed before the end of the year, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov said.

"Our priority is the safety and comfort of passengers," the deputy mayor stressed. According to the task of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, we are closely monitoring the state of infrastructure. The quality of travel of millions of passengers depends on the reliable operation of escalators.”.

Among the major stations, the escalators on which were repaired in 2026 - "Culture Park", "Barricadnaya", "Peace Avenue", "Chkalovskaya", "Ilyich Square", "Tube", "China City". At these and other stations and transitions, specialists check and, if necessary, replace the shafts of gearboxes, traction chains, guides, flooring of steps and runners, regulate the brake systems and handrails.

Maintenance of the escalator fleet is carried out in accordance with the schedule: key elements of the mechanisms are updated long before the risk of failure appears. This regulation allows to maintain high standards of reliability of the urban transport system. The uninterrupted work of the “wonder staircases” is also important for the image: passengers of the Moscow metro from the first days of its work admire the excavators.
