Defense of convicts in the case of hostage-taking in Rostov SIZO filed an appeal against the sentence

The defense of convicts in the case of hostage-taking in the Rostov SIZO filed an appeal against the sentence. Recall that in September 2026, the court sentenced Daniil Kamnev, Ramzan Albekov, Magomed Alkhanov, Malik Gandaloev and Adam Kodzoev* to terms of imprisonment from 21 to 29 years in a strict regime colony.
Information on the filing of the complaint appeared in the file file of the court. The lawyer filed an appeal on October 1, challenging the judicial act, which has not yet entered into force. It is not yet clear whether the lawyers of all the convicts, or only some of them, filed complaints.
The hostage-taking incident occurred on June 16, 2024, when a group of inmates escaped from the cell by sawing the bars. In the course of the escape, which did not go smoothly because of a rope break, five prisoners were eliminated, and one of them, Daniel Kamnev, survived. The prisoners who escaped took two prison staff hostage.
According to the investigation, the surviving participants of the seizure also planned to commit terrorist attacks in Ingushetia, in connection with which new criminal cases were initiated against them in January 2025.
