Tomorrow, October 21, the memory of St. Tryphon Vyatsky is celebrated. Tryphon was born in the XVI century in the village of Small Nemnyushki in the Arkhangelsk province.
From childhood he felt the need for monastic life and became even stronger in his desires when he heard in the temple the words that the Lord counts monks among his chosen ones. Tryphon secretly left his parents' home, went to the Perm province and took tonsure in the Pyskor monastery. He worked so hard there that he got sick and almost died. When the monk was already close to death, Saint Nicholas appeared to him, accompanied by an angel, according to legend, who healed the saint and rewarded him with the gift of wonderworking.
The news of Tryphon’s new abilities quickly spread throughout the surrounding lands, and in order not to excite the brothers’ envy for his glory, the saint retired to the deserted places on the Mulyanka River, and later moved to the Chusovaya River, where he built a monastery. Another monastery bearing the name of the Assumption Trifonov Monastery, the monk founded on Vyatka.
