Married Kirovs are more likely to quit smoking than singles
Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention of the Kirov region conducted an online survey among men in the region

The Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention of the Kirov region conducted an online survey among men in the region. One section of the study focused on smoking. 38.9% of participants had never smoked and 33.2% had quit. Thus, more than 70% of respondents do not smoke today.
At the same time, experts noted an alarming trend: men are increasingly choosing alternative methods - vapes and tobacco heating systems. Many people mistakenly believe that these products are less harmful than conventional cigarettes. Among men under 30, one in two uses vapes or heating systems, including with regular cigarettes. In the 30-40 age group, the popularity of tobacco heating systems has quadrupled. E-cigarettes and heating systems cannot be considered a harmless substitute: they contain nicotine, are addictive and are associated with the risk of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
The survey also showed that the family becomes an important driver of health care. Among married men, the share of nicotine-containing products refuses reaches 41.8%, while among single men - only 23.1%. According to the head of the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention of the Kirov region Olga Malysheva, quitting smoking is one of the key steps to preserve health. She stressed that there is no safe nicotine-containing products: both conventional and electronic cigarettes, including vapes, harm the heart, blood vessels and respiratory organs.
