Resident Kupchino owed his son 568 thousand alimony and now sit for 5 years

A resident of Kupchino, who left his 5-year-old son without funds for maintenance, has accumulated arrears on alimony for 568 thousand rubles and will now spend 5 years in a strict regime colony. This is reported by the press service of the GUFSSP in the city of St. Petersburg.

Earlier, a resident of Kupchino was convicted for non-payment of alimony, then the court appointed him mandatory work in the form of punishment, and also demanded to pay funds. But the man did not attend mandatory work, the debt did not pay, although he knew about criminal liability for such actions. At the time of consideration of the case, the debt was 568 thousand rubles.

In a new trial, the defendant admitted his guilt. But the court decided that imprisonment is a necessary measure, as other punishments will not achieve their goal. The accused also has several convictions under other articles of the criminal code. Based on this, the judge appointed him 5 years and 2 months of imprisonment with serving a sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. Immediately after the announcement of the verdict, the St. Petersburger was taken into custody right in the courtroom.

In total, the courts of St. Petersburg issued 447 sentences against residents of the city under the article on non-payment of funds for the maintenance of children or disabled parents in 2026. Of these, 53 residents received real terms.
