Resident of Petrovsky district received 7 years for the death of a motorcyclist in a drunken accident

In the Petrovsky district, the trial of a 34-year-old local resident who became a defendant in the criminal case of a fatal accident has ended. The man was found guilty of violating traffic rules in a state of alcoholic intoxication, which led to the death of a person by negligence.

As the investigation established, the tragedy occurred at night on May 25, 2025. The defendant, being drunk, drove a GAZ 3302 truck and followed the dirt road towards the village of Naryshkino. At some point, the driver drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where he made a head-on collision with a motorcycle. The 35-year-old two-wheeler driver suffered injuries incompatible with life and died at the scene.

The state prosecution in this case was supported by the prosecutor's office of Petrovsky district. The court, agreeing with the position of the prosecution, issued a verdict: the perpetrator was sentenced to 7 years in prison with serving in a colony-settlement. In addition, a man is deprived of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a period of 2 years.

In addition to the criminal punishment, the court satisfied the civil claim: the convict is obliged to pay the relatives of the deceased compensation for moral damage in the amount of 2 million 700 thousand rubles.

At the moment, the sentence has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
