Residents of Izhevsk reminded that cortisol is good for reproductive health

In Izhevsk, residents were reminded that cortisol, which is often called a stress hormone, can play an important role in the normal functioning of the reproductive system.

Scientists have analyzed many scientific papers on cortisol fluctuations during the cycle in different vertebrates. It turned out that the level of this hormone changes markedly in normal reproductive cycles, often increasing during ovulation.

This calls into question the popular belief that cortisol necessarily suppresses reproductive function.
