Ivanovo regional court has appointed a 41-year-old resident of the city 18 years in prison in the case of treason. According to the joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the region, the man was accused of transferring information about a Russian military facility to representatives of Ukrainian special services.

According to the materials of the case, the convict entered into correspondence via the Internet with a representative of special services of Ukraine and offered assistance in intelligence activities in the Ivanovo region. In April 2024, he received the coordinates of one of the objects of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and handed them over to the interlocutor. According to the court, this information could be used against the Russian Armed Forces. The crime was identified by employees of the regional FSB department.

Earlier, the man was convicted by the Second Western District Military Court for inducing citizens to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization acting on the side of the enemy. Then he was sentenced to ten years in prison and a fine of 400 thousand rubles.

In the new case, the court determined the final punishment in the form of 18 years of imprisonment: the first five years of the convict must spend in prison, the remainder of the term in a high-security colony. He was also fined 500,000 rubles.
