A resident of Minsk district for the second time this year was convicted of evasion of payment of alimony

Sentenced 35-year-old previously convicted resident of the Minsk district, who evaded payment of alimony for the maintenance of two children, told the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti” in the Prosecutor’s office of Pervomaysky district.

The defendant has an 11-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter, who live with their mother after the divorce. According to the court decision, from January 2021, the defendant must pay alimony in favor of the former spouse.

Since the man did not officially work anywhere for a long time, he did not transfer money for the maintenance of children, for which he was prosecuted in February 2026. But even after that, the situation has not changed.

Employees of the enforcement department repeatedly tried to reason with him, but their father did not attach any importance to their words. As a result, another criminal case was opened against him.

Guilt in the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted, in what he did sincerely repented.

- The accused is currently employed as an accomplice in a private company, commented Kristina Prishchepova, assistant prosecutor of Pervomaysky district. The court found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 174 of the Criminal Code ("avoidance of parents from the maintenance of children or from reimbursement of expenses spent by the state for the maintenance of children who are or were on state support"), and imposed a punishment of one year of restriction of freedom without sending them to an open-type correctional institution.

The sentence has not come into force, can be appealed and challenged in accordance with the procedure established by law.
