Residents of Komi were told that people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder often have physical ailments. Among them are migraines, bowel problems, obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
The reasons for such connections are not completely clear. Scientists suggest that it may be in common genes, lifestyle, features of connective tissue and the state of the intestine.
Treatment of ADHD itself can improve the physical condition of patients. However, these effects require further study to understand how persistent they are and what causes them.
