The festival "Freshman Fest - 2026" gathered more than a thousand students of BSU on the territory of the Student Village in Minsk. The event is timed to the 105th anniversary of the university, BelTA reports.

The festival is aimed at helping freshmen adapt to university life and familiarize themselves with the possibilities of realizing their intellectual, creative and sports interests. Representatives of each faculty were awarded symbolic vouchers to students.
For the guests of the festival, interactive zones representing all faculties and educational institutions of the university were organized, as well as a separate platform for student groups. Freshmen were able to test themselves in quizzes about the history of BSU, collect a Spils card of Belarus, try their luck in the “Wheel of Fortune”, try their hand in “Precision Gunner” and “Ball Throws at Target”. In "TextTok in Journalist" you could find stylistic errors in the texts and get souvenirs for it. And in thematic locations, everyone took memorable photos for their future student album. The holiday ended with the disco “New level”.
Anton Shchastny graduated from Zaslavskaya High School No. 1 and entered the Faculty of Journalism of BSU. He decided to become a journalist in the ninth grade, with the choice of profession he helped career guidance events. “Two years ago, I first got on an open day, when the journalism department lit a spark in me. Then I participated in the project “Student for a week”, which finally helped me to decide on the direction through communication with experienced journalists and visiting different profile locations. I want to be on television, so I enrolled in targeted training and will continue to work in CJSC “Second national TV channel”, – he said.
In his rapid adaptation, Anton was also helped by his participation in the educational project for high school students “School of a Young Journalist”, which prepared him for exams. The guy received the highest score for all stages of the entrance tests, arriving with 198 points out of a possible 200. “In my group, I became secretary of the BRSM. We are also actively preparing for the day of freshman. I like couples, now they are mainly focused on general theoretical knowledge, which is important for a journalist, because he must be educated in all directions.
For him, the festival was a great opportunity to meet like-minded people. I really like it here, the atmosphere is so friendly and I feel the support of my faculty. I met a girl from the biology department, and now we're gonna talk. It is great that you can find like-minded people here, we all aspired to be here at BSU, the student said.

In turn, Minsk Polina Yanovskaya this year entered the faculty of geography and geoinformatics specialty “geoinformation systems”. “It is a very promising specialty, as is the university itself. I like the teaching process and the teachers very much. The exams were not as difficult as I thought, although the math was hard. For admission, I scored 317 points, she said.
During the period of adaptation, Polina was especially helped by the curatorship system. “Second-year students are in charge, and they are really the best, always ready to help. In the first few weeks I was able to meet many people. Couples are all interesting. So far we have mostly lectures, but the material is taught very well, everything is easily digested, she shared.
At the festival, she liked the disco, which took place after the grand opening. I heard familiar tracks, there were interesting performances and dances, everything was cool. I met a few guys from other faculties and got to know my classmates better, I really liked it, she added.
The festival of student life “Freshman Fest” has been held since 2017. The event is organized by BRSM BSU.
