Winter will be the worst in 200 years. Forecasters said what to prepare for
Forget the crackling frosts. The main threat of the coming months is temperature swings and ice shells on the roads.

Climate scientists are sounding the alarm: the coming winter (December 2026 – February 2027) promises to be a real test of strength, but not because of the abnormal cold. According to meteorologists, the key danger will be unprecedented temperature instability. Persistent frosts will be delayed, and when they come, each new atmospheric front will be more noticeable than the previous one.
The peak of this weather chaos will be in January. Experts describe the situation as a “roller coaster”: during the day the thermometer can show plus values with wet snow, and after a couple of hours the mercury column will collapse 20-25 degrees down. Such extreme contrast will inevitably lead to the formation of a solid ice crust, which will turn the streets, especially in the western regions, into a dangerous skating rink.
Rainfall isn't easy either. A sharp geographical imbalance is predicted: some areas risk surviving until spring with almost no snow cover, while others will be covered by powerful cyclones that can roll out the monthly rainfall in just a few days. This will put a huge burden on utilities and rescue services.
How to minimize the risks?
• Drivers need to change tires for winter now. The roadway will turn from wet asphalt into an ice trap at lightning speed.
Meteodependent: Cardiologists strongly recommend keeping blood pressure under strict control. Sharp temperature changes are a direct and dangerous blow to the vessels.
• All the rest: get shoes with an anti-slip sole, be extremely careful on the street and treat with understanding the possible interruptions in the housing and communal services.
