The famous Kroshik will no longer be tracked: the French Argos system leaves Russia
The famous inhabitant of Lake Ladoga - the Red Book seal named Kroshik - will soon disappear from the field of view of specialists

The famous inhabitant of Lake Ladoga - the Red Book seal named Kroshik - will soon disappear from the field of view of specialists. According to the non-profit organization Friends of the Baltic seal Foundation, this will happen due to the termination of the French satellite tracking service Argos in our country.
Representatives of the Fund added that now in Russia it will be impossible to mark wild animals with the help of satellite beacons. The fact is that similar equipment for tracking fauna around the globe is available exclusively from the French operator.
Zoologists recalled that the pioneer among domestic pinnipeds with such a sensor was the seal of Little Heath, while Little Kid got almost the final set of equipment. Experts described the departure of Argos as a serious blow to domestic science and zoological research.
