In Karelia, it is planned to start large-scale gold mining: Areal industry holding became a key participant in the project for the development of the Pertinyarvinsky site. According to Kommersant, the holding consolidated 75% of the shares in Aurora-resource LLC, which owns the corresponding license.
Geologists estimate the resource base of this deposit at 4.4 tons of precious metal. Industry experts emphasize: Karelia remains a promising region with serious untapped reserves. The rising world price for gold and the shortage of new deposits force Russian business to invest in the development of even hard-to-reach areas.
According to the regional Ministry of Industry and Trade, the total proven base of gold in the republic exceeds 49 tons, which lie at five strategic sites, including Pertinjärvi, Mayskoye, Lobash-1 and others.
