Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev visited a spectator in the hospital, in which he accidentally hit the ball during the semifinal match in Beijing against Serb Novak Djokovic. This was reported by Corriere dello Sport journalist Lorenzo Ercoli in the social network X.

Daniel Medvedev went to the hospital to personally apologize to the fan. The viewer is feeling well, serious injuries are not reported, however, he is not ready to provide additional information about his condition, Ercoli wrote.

On the eve of the second set at the score of 7:5, 5:3 in favor of Djokovic, the Russian lost the draw and repulsed the ball bounced from the wall in the direction of the stands. The ball hit the fan: he left the stands, holding his head. For this incident, Medvedev was disqualified.

Medvedev himself later said that he was terribly sorry for the incident, it was “100% accidental” and he hopes to meet with the victim and make amends.

Due to this disqualification, Medvedev will lose 200 points of the ATP rating and almost $220,000 in prize money for reaching the semifinals.
