Russian goalkeeper will hold the first official match in two years in the NHL
38-year-old goalkeeper "Islanders" Semyon Varlamov missed a long term due to several knee surgeries. He'll hit the ice in a game against Rangers

Russian goalkeeper “New York Islanders” Semyon Varlamov will start from the first minutes of the upcoming guest match of the regular championship of the NHL against the “New York Rangers”. This is reported on the league website.
Varlamov, 38, will play in an official NHL match for the first time since November 29, 2024.
The meeting against Rangers will be held on the night of October 7 Moscow time.
Varlamov missed such a long time due to the fact that he underwent the replacement of both knee joints. At the end of last season, he played twice for the farm club “Islanders” in the AHL, and in September twice participated in pre-season matches of the NHL.
Varlamov has been in the NHL since 2008. In the league, he also played for the Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche, with a total of 621 games, 289 wins (the 49th result in league history), averaging 2.65 goals and reflecting 91.6% of shots.
