A police motorcycle driving in an oncoming direction knocked down two Pinarello-Q36.5 cyclists at a competition in Italy. It is reported by The Telegraph.
The incident occurred at the one-day cycle race Tre Valli Varesine in the city of Vares. Spaniard Marcel Camprubi and Briton Thomas Gloag suffered.
“A police motorcycle was driving down the track towards the drivers and crashed into two of our guys. At that moment, I wanted to leave the distance. I was furious. The guys were driving in front of me and two of them were on the ground, said Tom Pidcock, another Pinarello-Q36.5 driver.
Camprubi and Gloag were not seriously injured. Fortunately, Marcel was fine and he was able to continue the race. Tom didn't get seriously hurt either, but he left the race and got stitches on his knee. This should not happen, added Pidcock, who finished second in Tre Valli Varesine.
In August, a Welshman Finley Tarling died at a race in Portugal when he collided with a car that was moving in the opposite direction to the peloton.
