Published

Mexican judge Gerardo Pineda died after wrestler Jose Angel threw him into the ring, according to the portal Azteca Noticias on his page in X.

During a show in the Mexican state of Hidalgo, a wrestler known as the “Son of Fishman” applied to Pineda (nicknamed “El Bujo”) a prohibited technique – “martinet”. This is the Mexican name for the Pildriver, a throw variant in which the opponent is turned upside down and dropped, creating a critical load on the neck and spine.

Doctors who entered the ring stated the death of the 75-year-old referee.

Wrestler Angel was arrested. He has been charged with manslaughter. His legal status will be determined in the next 24 hours.
