Russian skater surpasses world record among juniors

Russian figure skater Arseniy Fedotov surpassed the world record among juniors at the international tournament “Denis Ten Memorial” in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
In the short program, he scored 91.38 points. This result surpassed the previous achievement of the Japanese Rio Nakata (89.51 points) for the short program.
The second and third places after the short program were taken by Russians Alexander Chmil with 74.01 points and Gleb Kovtun with 73.18 points.
Fedotov did not expect such points, calling it “impossible” for junior level.
Despite Fedotov’s impressive achievement, it will not be officially counted in ISU statistics. This is due to the fact that Russian skaters perform in a neutral status, and their results do not go into the official standings.
17-year-old Fedotov previously about ten years of training under the leadership of Eteri Tutberidze. In June 2026 he joined the group of Alexei Mishin. Tutberidze herself called the pupil's departure a loss and a "painful story.".
Arbitrary junior program will be presented on October 10. The Denis Ten Memorial tournament takes place in Kazakhstan from October 8-10.
