Lindsey Vonn included in the US team after a serious injury at the Olympics

2010 Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn, continuing her recovery from an injury sustained in February at the Games in Italy, was included in the US team for the upcoming World Cup season. The list of 49 athletes was published on the website of the United States Ski and Snowboard Federation.

The federation said in a statement that all skiers were selected according to the current criteria. Vonn last season took 12th place in the overall World Cup and became the fifth in the downhill standings.

Vonn will celebrate his 42nd birthday on October 18. She has previously said she is unsure of her return to competition after a complex tibial fracture and subsequent surgeries.

The World Cup starts on October 24 in Selden, Austria.
