The wife of the head coach of Magnitogorsk Metallurg Andrei Razin Tatiana Razin said that the suspension of her husband from work is due to the discontent of one team player.
“Well, briefly for those who don’t know: Andrey was dismissed from office, although the team is in first place. The official version that the team conflict, is not true. There's just one disgruntled player. Well... That happens, Razina wrote in her Telegram channel.
“Metallurg” on October 6 suspended 52-year-old Razin from work as head coach. Acting duties appointed Vladimir Vorobyov. According to the director of the club Alexei Zhloba, “there were disagreements between the head coach and the players both on game issues and on the nature of interaction.”.
Razin has headed Metallurg since 2023. In 2024, under his leadership, the team won the Gagarin Cup, and he was recognized as the best coach of the season. Last season, the Magnitogorsk club reached the semifinals of the KHL playoffs, where they lost to Kazan Ak Bars (1-4 in the series).
Metallurg scored 21 points in 14 matches and takes first place in the standings of the Eastern Conference. The team will play the next match on October 9 against Salavat Yulaev.
