The Russian set a world record in freediving
Alexey Molchanov won the world championship in the discipline of "constant weight" with monolast, diving to a depth of 137 m. He improved his own record, which has held since 2023

Russian freediver Alexei Molchanov has set a new world record in the discipline “constant weight” with monolast (CWT). This was reported in the Federation of freediving of Russia.
At the AIDA (International Freediving Development Association) World Championships in Cyprus, he plunged to a depth of 137 m and returned to the surface in one breath. The dive lasted five minutes and two seconds.
During the dive, Molchanov covered a total of 274 meters vertically - 137 meters down and the same amount back to the surface. The new result is one meter higher than his own previous world record, which has held since 2023.
In the CWT discipline, the freediver descends to the declared depth and returns to the surface without changing the weight of his gear. For movement it is allowed to use monolast or separate flippers. Molchanov performed a record dive with a monolast - a single flipper for both legs.
At the last World Cup, Molchanov also won gold in diving in split flippers (126 m), silver without flippers (93 m) and silver in free diving on the cable (128 m).
