Russian judoka Niyaz Bilalov won a bronze medal in the weight category up to 100 kg at the world championship, which is held in Baku.

In the fight for third place, he defeated compatriot Arman Adamyan.

The second bronze went to Italian Gennaro Pirelli. In the final, Georgians Ilya Sulamanidze defeated Japanese Dotu Arai.

For the Russian men’s team, this is the first medal in the current tournament. The girls won two bronzes - Sabina Gilyazova (weight category up to 48 kg) and Madina Taimazova (up to 70 kg). For them, it was the best result at the World Cup since 2010.

Two more sets of awards in the personal tournament will be played in Baku - in the category of over 100 kg for men and over 78 kg for women. On the final day, October 11, a mixed team tournament will be held.
