Russian tennis player in the semifinals defeated the Czech Nikola Bartunkova

Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva reached the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing.
In the semifinals, the 19-year-old Russian, the fourth seed, defeated the Czech Nikola Bartunkova, the 34th racket of the world, with a score of 6: 2, 6: 2.
In the decisive match, Andreeva’s opponent will be Chinese Zheng Qinwen or Belgian Elise Mertens.
Andreeva ranks fifth in the world ranking (the best of the Russians), on account of her six WTA titles. In early June, the Russian won Roland Garros, having won the title for the first time at the Grand Slam tournament. In the new WTA ranking, it will become the third racket in the world for the first time.
Earlier, Andreeva’s best result at the tournament in Beijing was the quarterfinals in 2024. The Russian for the fourth time in her career reached the final of the “thousanders” – last year she won titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, and this lost to Ukrainian Martha Kostyuk in the decisive match in Madrid.
Andreeva became the youngest tennis player since Caroline Wozniacki (2009; 68 wins at the end of the season), who scored 50 or more victories in WTA-level tournaments in one season. In addition, she equaled Jessica Pegula in the number of victories this season (50).
The tournament in Beijing with a prize pool of $ 9.415 million will last until October 11. It belongs to the WTA 1000 category, only the Grand Slam tournaments and the Final tournament are more prestigious.
