Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen reached the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing.

In the semifinals, the 24-year-old Chinese woman, who received a wild card in the main grid, defeated Belgian Eliza Mertes, the 19th racket of the world, with a score of 7: 5, 6: 2.

In the decisive match rival Zheng Qinwen will be Russian Mirra Andreeva, who takes fifth place in the world ranking. Previously, they met once, in the 1/4 finals in Beijing in 2024, the Chinese was stronger.

Zheng Qinwen is an Olympic singles champion in Paris, winner of five WTA tournaments, finalist of the 2024 Australian Open. It is now ranked 54th in the world ranking.

The tournament in Beijing with a prize pool of $ 9.415 million will last until October 11. It belongs to the WTA 1000 category, only the Grand Slam tournaments and the Final tournament are more prestigious.
