Tokyo Paralympic champion Musa Taimazov dies at 42

Tokyo Paralympic champion Musa Taimazov has died at the age of 42. This was announced by the acting head of the Republic of Dagestan Fedor Shchukin in his Telegram channel.

“Musa was a symbol of unbending will and courage, proving that the human spirit knows no bounds. His victories in the world arenas glorified Dagestan and all of Russia, inspiring thousands of people to never give up. This is an irreparable loss for Russian and world sports. We express sincere condolences to relatives and friends, coaches and admirers of Taymazov’s talent, Shchukin wrote.

Taimazov's brother Said said the cause of death was kidney problems. “There was pyelonephritis, there was infection. Then there was a click and he fell into a coma. He passed away today, he said.

Taimazov won the gold of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in club throwing, was the world record holder, bronze medalist of the 2019 World Cup.
