Russian swimmer breaks world record in 50m butterfly
At the short water World Cup in Tashkent, Egor Kornev won with a score of 21.28 seconds

Russian swimmer Egor Kornev set a new world record in short water at a distance of 50 m butterfly.
Kornev, 22, won the second stage of the World Cup in Tashkent with a score of 21.28 seconds.
Root improved the achievement of Swiss Noe Ponti (21.32), set in December 2024.
The second place in Tashkent was shared by Australian Isaac Cooper and Teong Tsen Wei from Singapore, who showed the same result (21.96).
Kornev is the world champion of 2025 in the combined 4x100 m relay, three-time European champion.
