Russian women for the first time won three medals in one world championship

For the first time in history, the Russian women’s team won three medals at the World Judo Championship.
On Saturday, at the tournament in Baku, Maria Ivanova took bronze in the category over 78 kg. In the medal fight, she defeated Italian Asya Tavano.
Earlier in Baku, Sabina Gilyazova took bronze in the category up to 48 kg, Madina Taimazova - up to 70 kg.
Two medals at one world championship, the Russians last took in 2010, when Thea Donguzashvili became the third in the absolute category, and Natalia Kuzyutina – in weight up to 52 kg.
The tournament in Baku will end on October 11, with a mixed team tournament on the last day.
