The head of the Portuguese football Federation expressed hope for the return of Ronaldo

The head of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) Pedro Proenza expects the speedy return to the national team of five-time Golden Ball winner Cristiano Ronaldo. He told reporters about this.

41-year-old captain of the national team of Portugal on September 30 voluntarily left the location of the national team due to a conflict with the head coach of the national team Georges Jesouch. The FPF announced Ronaldo's suspension on October 10, disciplinary proceedings were instituted, the footballer faces a suspension of up to six months and a fine of €500 to €1,000.

“I want to reassure everyone. The FPF president, coach, captain and footballers spoke. We need to stay calm and cool. We are all together and we have a huge desire to bring the captain back to the team. The usual disciplinary procedure will be up to us, the decision will be made by independent bodies, but we see the desire of the FPF to return the captain as soon as possible, we see the position of the coach - he said that if the player is ready to play, the captain will be with us - and, most importantly, we see the great desire of the captain himself to return to the national team, where, according to him, he is happy.

The head of the FPF hopes that Ronaldo will return to the team for the November matches of the Nations League. “This will depend solely on the disciplinary committee — the independent body that will do its job. We are preparing for the next training camp, where we expect to see all the players if the sporting circumstances allow. Everyone, without exception, wants to get back together in November, Proenza added.

Ronaldo left the national team the day before the match of the League of Nations against Denmark (4: 2). In the previous match against Norway, Ronaldo was on the bench for the first time in a long time. 30 minutes before the end of the match, Jesousz sent Ronaldo to warm up, but, to the player’s surprise, he did not release him on the field.

As a result, Ronaldo left the national team after the coach said at a press conference that the player did not play with Norway and will not play in the next match. On October 6, Ronaldo issued a special statement detailing the conflict with Jesouch. According to him, the coach twice violated this word: he did not release him to the match with Norway and did not publicly disclose the incident, although he promised to do so. Ronaldo also apologized to the national team and fans, saying that he was ready for punishment, but does not plan to end his career in the national team.

He has previously expressed hope that the country will support him amid the conflict with Ronaldo, and said he is ready to return the player to the team if he wants. The coach also said he would not apologize for what happened. After the publication of the message of the captain of the national team, Jesos said that he had read it and had nothing to say.
