VAR cancelled “Real” almost twice as many goals compared to rivals
Real Madrid have cancelled 42 goals since 2018, while Barcelona have only 19. The last ball Madrid did not count on October 10, when the video referee saw Vinicius before taking the goal pulled the opponent’s hair

The system of video assistance to referees (VAR), introduced in the Spanish championship in 2018, has already canceled 42 goals of Real Madrid, Mundo Deportivo writes, citing data from sports analyst and statistics Alexis Martin-Tamayo.
The last cancelled goal was in the match between Real Madrid and Villarreal on October 10 (1-0), when the goal was canceled due to Vinicius Junior, who pulled the opponent’s hair. The arbitrator did not initially notice this violation, but the VAR judge intervened.
On average, Real Madrid canceled five goals per season.
The second place is shared by Atletico and Villarreal (22 each), followed by Celta, Real Sociedad and Sevilla (20 each). Barcelona lost only 19 goals after video views - 33 less than their main rival.
“Real” after eight rounds is fourth in the standings.
