Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva for the first time in her career will perform in singles at the WTA Final Tournament, which traditionally ends the tennis season and gathers the eight best players of the year.
For the 19-year-old athlete, this will be her debut in the singles tournament. A year ago, she competed only in pairs with compatriot Diane Schneider. The Russians could not leave the group, losing all three matches.
When and where the WTA Final Tournament will take place
The final tournament, which will be held from 8 to 15 November in Indian Wells, will be attended by eight best tennis players and the best pairs of the season. Matches will be held on open hard courts.
Format and composition of participants
Eight members of the single category are divided into two groups. In the first stage, each tennis player will play with three opponents. The two best athletes from each group will reach the semifinals and play places in the decisive match. A similar principle applies in doubles.
Andreeva (the third racket of the world) fell into the second group, where her rivals will be Belarusian Arina Sobolenko (2), Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (6) and Czech Karolina Mukhova (7).
In the first group before the start there were changes: the leader of the world ranking Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan withdrew from the tournament due to health problems. It was replaced by the first reserve – Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (10). She will play Americans Corey (Coco) Gauff (4) and Jessica Pegula (5), as well as Czech Linda Noskova (8).
Prize fund and rating points
The prize fund of the WTA Final Tournament in 2026 will be $10 million: $8 million in singles and $2 million in doubles. This is 35.48% less than in 2025, when the tournament was held in Riyadh. Then the total amount of payments was approximately $ 15.5 million.
In that draw, champion Elena Rybakina received $5.235 million for winning all five matches. In 2026, $3.37 million is provided for a similar result in singles, including participation fees.
Rating points are awarded for each match won: 200 points for winning the group stage, 400 in the semifinals and 500 in the final. So, the maximum result when winning in all five matches is 1500 points.
Breakthrough season to the next level
Andreeva is approaching the final tournament after one of the most productive seasons in his career. In 2026, she won 50 victories with 16 defeats and three singles titles. In January, she won the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide, in April repeated success at the competition in Linz, and the main achievement of the season was the victory at Roland Garros in June.
In the final of the French Open, Andreeva beat Polish tennis player Maya Chvalinska with a score of 6:3, 6:2. This title was for the Russian first in the Grand Slam tournaments. She also reached the quarterfinals of the US Open and the finals of the WTA 1000 tournaments in Madrid and Beijing.
The athlete occupies the third line of the WTA table, behind Elena Rybakina and Arina Sobolenko. It's a repeat of her best performance of her career.

If she reaches the semifinals, I will consider it a successful performance. In general, she is able to leave the group, Tarpischev told TASS.
“Mukhova can be dangerous on this surface. She is a very diverse tennis player, and playing outdoors will give her trump cards.
The winner of Roland Garros 2004 Anastasia Myskina noted that Andreeva has good chances to leave the group.
“The Mirrina group — Svitolina, Sobolenko, Mukhov — in my opinion, is good. Mirra has a very good chance of getting out of it. In general, in my opinion, the game that Mirra has been showing lately is the game of a person who can become the best among the strongest. I am very sick and will be watching soon. I hope Mirra wins, Myskina said in a video posted on the Telegram channel More.
The first Russian champion of the Australian Open and Roland Garros in the mixed category Andrey Olkhovsky noted that in the women’s net “anyone can win”. “Whoever is in better shape will win. So I'm not making any predictions. If Rybakina has some stable results, then the rest of the... Of the eight to predict, as I said, who will be in the semifinals, it is quite difficult, — said Olkhovsky “Championship”.
Honored coach of Russia Viktor Yanchuk noted that Andreeva got a good group. Sobolenko will be hard to beat, although she has already succeeded, but all the rest of Mirra is absolutely capable. I think she has high chances to reach the semifinals, if not from the first place in the group, so from the second, Yanchuk said.
