Having a fan card (Fan ID) from October 1, will be a prerequisite for visiting FONBET matches of the Russian Cup on football, which are held at the stadiums of the clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The corresponding order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The press service of the Ministry of Sport explained the introduction of the measure with security issues. “The practice of using Fan ID shows that with an increase in attendance at games where a fan card is used, the number of violations on them decreases,” the statement said. The Ministry stressed that this season at the matches of the RPL “not recorded mass violations of public order, illegal use of pyrotechnics and actions of an extremist nature.”.
From the 2022/23 season, the Russian Cup is divided into the RPL Way and the Regions Way. RPL clubs first hold a group stage, then play-off games. In the “Route of the Regions” before the matches, six rounds of the preliminary stage are held. The trophy is played between the winners of the play-off “Routes of RPL” and “Routes of Regions”.
