German Franz Reindl elected as new President of the International Ice Hockey Federation
At the Congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in Tenerife, the election of a new president of the organization took place. German Franz Reindl was elected for a four-year term.

Czech Petr Břiza and Kyrgyz Aivaz Omorkanov also participated in the elections, who was eliminated from the fight following the results of the first round. In the second round, 71-year-old Franz Reindl scored 51.28% of the vote.
The German replaced the Frenchman Luc Tardif, who had led the IIHF since 2021. Mr. Reindl has been on the IIHF board since 2016. From 2014 to 2022, he headed the German Hockey Union.
As a player, he won the bronze medal at the 1976 Olympics as part of the German national team. Together with the national team, Franz Reindl performed at nine World Championships, three Games and the Canadian Cup.
