The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has not received an appeal from Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva against the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) to revoke neutral status. This was reported by TASS in the press service of the instance.
In August, the ISU gave Kamila Valieva and single Mark Kondratyuk neutral status, but a month later canceled it. The skaters challenged the decision. After an individual assessment of their compliance with the admission criteria, it was determined that they no longer met the requirements for participation as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, the ISU again refused to issue neutral status to five-time European Championship winners Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin, performing in ice dancing.
Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev said that skaters will appeal the ISU decision to CAS. They could have done it within 21 days. The court registered the appeals of Kondratyuk, Stepanova and Bukin.
Kamila Valieva is 20. She resumed her career in the winter after serving a four-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation. In December 2021, the skater passed a positive test, in which trimetazidine was found. After the suspension, she began training under the guidance of Svetlana Sokolovskaya.
