Two-time OI champion Kassara became the general manager of the Russian rapier team

Italian Andrea Kassara took the post of general manager of the national team of Russia on fencing on rapiers. This was reported by the press service of the Fencing Federation of Russia.

Italian Andrea Kassara took the post of general manager of the national team of Russia on fencing on rapiers. This was reported by the press service of the Fencing Federation of Russia.

The 42-year-old will work with both men's and women's teams. “Congratulations to Andrea on the appointment and wish inexhaustible energy, boundless patience, luck and success in working for the benefit of Russian fencing,” the federation said in a statement.

Andrea Cassara won the 2004 and 2012 Olympics in team competitions. Also on account of the Italian seven gold medals of the world championships.

Since June 2026, Russian athletes are allowed to participate in tournaments under the auspices of the International Fencing Federation with a flag and anthem.
