American fighter of mixed martial arts shot in Africa
Former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy was shot and treated in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy is being treated for injuries sustained in an attack in the Democratic Republic of Congo that left 20 people dead or injured and Kennedy himself with three gunshot wounds.
As reported by Newsweek, the former “green beret” of the U.S. Army is undergoing treatment at the National Military Medical Center named after Walter Reed. He was initially injured on September 17 during an attack in South Kivu province.
Derrick Van Orden, a U.S. congressman from Wisconsin, posted an update on Kennedy's situation on social media over the weekend, saying he was "grateful" that Kennedy, 47, is alive and "asking everyone to pray for his recovery and for his wonderful family to find peace.".
Kennedy was reportedly an employee of Vectus Global, a private security firm operating in the area.
Kennedy's record in MMA is 18 wins and 6 defeats, with his last bout ending in defeat by Calvin Gastelum in 2016.
Perhaps the highlight of his career was the knockout of Rafael Natal at UFC: Fight for the Troops 3 in late 2013.
