Belarus and Azerbaijan discuss cooperation in sports

President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko held talks with the leadership of the NOC of Azerbaijan. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of the NOC of Belarus Ksenia Sankovic, Vice-President of the NOC of Azerbaijan Chingiz Huseynzade and Secretary General of the NOC of this country Azer Aliyev, the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus told sb.by.

The parties stressed the importance of further cooperation between the National Olympic Committees. Mr. Lukashenko expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and traditional Azerbaijani hospitality, which create an excellent basis for an open and friendly dialogue.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the role of Azerbaijan as one of the world sports centers. It was noted that the country holds a large number of tournaments of the highest level, successfully coping with the organization of the most difficult international competitions and setting a high standard of quality for the entire sports community.

The interlocutors discussed the upcoming key events of the National Olympic Committees: the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, the ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong, the European Youth Olympic Festival in Brasov.

“The parties confirmed their readiness for close work and expressed confidence that joint efforts will contribute to the development of sports and strengthen friendship between the two countries,” the statement said.
