The Ministry of Energy of Belarus and Russia signed an agreement on the approval of the rules for the functioning of the unified electricity market of the Union State. The signing took place on the sidelines of the Belarusian Energy and Environmental Forum, BelTA reports.

“All bureaucratic procedures have been completed. Operators are defined, order is defined. Starting next year. We will be able to exchange electricity and meet each other’s needs, said Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak.
He noted that the issue of a fair price is relevant in the common market. Belarus has its own electricity generation, as does the central European part of Russia. Competition will contribute to the choice of a more efficient option of energy supply to the end consumer, will allow you to choose the best solutions, will be loaded more efficient capacity, will be more cost-effective choice of supplier. And the higher the efficiency, the cheaper electricity is formed in the market, the deputy minister noted.
He also answered the question of how the overall electricity market will affect end users. People always ask: will the price go down? The price will probably not decrease, because there is inflation, major modernization, construction in the energy sector. But the price increase will not be so significant, since the most effective cost decisions will be selected, said Evgeny Grabchak.
