Belarusian fencer Alexei Rekish became the bronze medalist of the European Youth Cup stage in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Sport.

35 athletes from ten countries took part in the tournament. In the group stage, A. Rekis won five victories in six fights, and in the playoffs defeated Macedonian Petar Srbinoski (15:6), Italian Marco Ferraris (15:9) and Turk Jalgin Yeter (15:11). In the semifinals, the Belarusian lost to Daniil Zamkov from Latvia (11:15) and eventually took third place.
Another athlete from Belarus Yana Sobal showed the ninth result in sword fencing.
