On Saturday, October 10, Malorita will be the center of a big sports festival. The 43rd International Maloritsk Marathon is one of the oldest running races in Belarus. Residents and guests of the city are invited to support athletes and become part of this event.

Interest in the competition this year was particularly high. The established quota of one thousand participants was chosen ahead of schedule, so the registration has already been closed. It is expected that runners from Belarus and Russia will start.
The marathon program is designed for athletes with different levels of training. Experienced runners will be able to overcome the classic distance of 42 kilometers, and for the rest of the participants, races of 5 and 10 kilometers are prepared. The five-kilometer distance can be run with an electronic chip and fixing the result or without it. For children and parents there is a family run for 1 kilometer.
The route of the competition will take place through the central streets of Malorita and the picturesque surroundings of the district. Participants will have a smooth highway, which will allow experienced runners to compete for a high result, and amateurs – to test their strength and enjoy the sports atmosphere. Each finisher of the main races will receive a unique medal, and the winners will receive well-deserved awards, the organizers said.
The history of the International Malorita Marathon began in 1984. The first race took place on October 7, and over time, the competition became one of the main sports traditions of the district. In 2026, the marathon will be held for the 43rd time.
Over the decades of competitions, their program has changed many times. In different years, athletes were offered distances of 30, 20, 15, 10, 5, 4, 2 and 1 kilometer, as well as short runs of 500 and 300 meters. Due to this diversity, both trained athletes and beginner runners could try their hand.
The marathon brought together athletes not only from Belarus. Over the years, representatives of other countries came to Malorita, including guests from Europe. The wide geography of the participants helped the competition gain international status and become famous far beyond the district.
Every year, mass races attract more and more people of different ages and levels of training. For some, participation becomes an opportunity to compete for awards and improve personal results, for others - to test their strength, for the first time overcome the chosen distance and join an active lifestyle.
Especially important during the marathon will be the support of the audience. Overcoming a long distance requires not only good physical training, but also fortitude of character. At the last kilometers, even experienced runners can be difficult, so the applause and kind words of fans can give them additional strength. Come support the participants, energize them and together create an atmosphere of a real sports festival! A cultural race with visits to museums is planned to be organized in Brest in 2027
