Denis Pasler thanked athletes and organizers of the Spartakiad

The Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Denis Pasler thanked the organizers of the Spartakiad of the peoples of Russia and the regional team for the celebration of sports.

Competitions were held in six cities of the Sverdlovsk region. For two months, 125 sets of medals in 21 sports were played at 18 sports facilities. The region received a record number of participants – 3,177 professional athletes.

The team of the Sverdlovsk region took fifth place in the unofficial team standings among the subjects of the country.

The Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Denis Pasler congratulated the team and thanked everyone involved in the competition. In his social networks, he noted that the fifth place in the team standings is the hard work of athletes and coaches.

The Urals won 64 medals: 22 gold, 16 silver and 26 bronze. Our sambists are especially distinguished – they have 20 medals, in judo – 12 and in table tennis – 5, Denis Pasler wrote in his social networks.

Other athletes achieved high results: basketball players (both men's and women's teams) became winners of the Spartakiad. Swimmers won 6 medals, climbers and track and field athletes - 4 awards each.

Special attention was paid to the students of the Academy of FC "Ural" born in 2009 and 2010. In the semifinals, they lost to the team from St. Petersburg only in a series of post-match penalties - future champions of the Spartakiad. In the match for third place, the Urals were stronger than rivals from the Moscow region and won bronze.

The head of the region emphasized the successes of sambists, judokas and tennis players, and also thanked the organizers, staff of sports grounds and everyone who welcomed guests from all over Russia.

“The Middle Urals is always for sports!”, Denis Pasler said.

Earlier, MK-Ural wrote that the Sverdlovsk region occupies the fifth place in the unofficial standings of the All-Russian Spartakiad of the Peoples of Russia. Athletes won 22 gold medals, 16 silver, 26 bronze. Sverdlovsk citizens won first places in competitions in sambo, basketball, judo, freestyle wrestling, swimming, table tennis.
