FC “Pskov” issued a “golden double” and became the champion of the NWFD

On October 11, in Petrozavodsk, the Pskov football club defeated Dynamo-Karelia with a score of 3:0 and won the title of champion of the North-Western Federal District among men's teams. This victory allowed the Pskovites to issue a “golden double” of the season, adding to the championship victory in the NWFO Cup. This is reported by the Pskov News Tape.

The path to the title was dramatic. After difficult matches with “Luke-Energy-2” Pskovites at the end of the season it was necessary to defeat “Dynamo-Karelia” twice away. In the first meeting, Igor Vasiliev's team showed character, snatching a 3-2 victory thanks to two goals in two minutes. In the decisive, final match, the Pskovians were flawless: in the 25th minute, Anton Paranin opened the scoring with a head blow, in the second half, Sergey Molchanov doubled the advantage, and in the 90th minute Paranin realized a penalty, making a double. At the end of October, he was also recognized as the best player of the month.

Now the team is waiting for a fight to reach the final tournament of the Third League. In the play-offs, the Pskovis meet with the winner of the St. Petersburg Cup - the Zvezda team. After a 1-0 guest victory, the return match will be held on October 17 at 17:00 at the Machine-Builder stadium in Pskov.
