On October 8, 2026, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation in an open session considered the case on the payment of alimony and verification of the constitutionality of paragraph 1 of Article 81 of the Family Code of the Russian Federation (the amount of alimony in the absence of an agreement). The reason was the complaint of PSG goalkeeper Matvei Safonov.
In January 2024, the Nikulinsky district court of Moscow recovered from him alimony for a minor daughter in the amount of 1/4 of earnings. Safonov asked to set a firm amount of 300 thousand rubles, citing his “super income” and disproportionate payments to the needs of the child. The courts refused, pointing out that having a stable income is not grounds for a solid amount.
The player believes that the contested norm is contrary to the Constitution, as it does not allow to take into account the ultra-high income of the payer. The case has not yet been decided.
