Grodno handball players won the “final of four” of the league “Vaverka Cap” in the category U13

In Minsk, the winners and prize-winners of the “final of four” children’s and youth handball league “Vaverka Cap” among girls born in 2013-2014 were determined. Belta reports.

Young handball players from Belarus and Russia aged 9 to 15 years, who compete in three age categories, take part in this league. In total, in the season-2026, 50 teams performed, 23 teams started in the middle group (2013-2014 years of birth). To the "final of four" reached girls from Gomel, Grodno and Belynich, as well as representatives of Moscow.

Matches in younger and middle ages are held according to special rules – in three halves, with the first two teams playing in different compositions. This is done to give playing time to all children, – said the chief judge of the tournament, initiator of the creation of the league Natalia Karpilovich. – The games were very interesting, until the last match it was not clear who and what prize place will be located. The head coach of the women’s national team Igor Papruga was also impressed, noting the selection of players and a high level of interaction on the court.

Gold medals were won by the Grodno-1 team, which won three fights out of three. The second position was taken by girls from the Belynichskaya DYUSSH, the third were the pupils of the SSHOR “Veshnyaki” (Moscow Handball Academy).

In all the matches we had to work hard, in some moments it was very difficult. I am glad that the girls gathered, showed themselves to be a real team and won, - said the coach-teacher of the Gorodnichanka Group of Companies Alexander Kashkevich. - We started performances in the league in February, two qualifying groups passed on the way to the final. We have been going to the competitions with this team for five years, it is not the first time in Minsk, the girls are used to the noise of the stands, so everyone was completely ready.

The coach of the Moscow Handball Academy Sergey Voronkov said: The tournament is very important, it is a good opportunity for us and for the hosts to see how our colleagues work in the neighboring country. For children, international starts are also more interesting than domestic ones, after all, this is a different level. I really like the two-team system, we don’t have that. We have been going to Belarus for a long time, there are excellent conditions for preparing the reserve and good state support. And as we can see, all of this is working.”.

At the end of September, the “final of four” of the league “Vaverka Cap” in the younger age category (2015-2017 years of birth) was held in Minsk, the victory was won by the team of the capital’s handball center, the three were supplemented by girls from Zvenigorod (Russia) and Slutsk. Medals in the senior group (2011-2012 years of birth) will be drawn from 8 to 10 October.
