Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the Agency RIA Novosti expressed support for figure skater Kamila Valieva, calling her a strong personality and a talented athlete. He is confident that the girl will adequately cope with a new difficult situation - the withdrawal of neutral status from the International Skating Union (ISU).
On September 10, the ISU announced that Kamila Valieva no longer meets the criteria for participation in international tournaments as an individual neutral athlete.
“She is a very strong girl, a very strong athlete. She went through great difficulties, passed with honor, with dignity. And I am sure that she will overcome this, too, Peskov said.
Kamila Valieva is now 20 years old. After completing a four-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation, she returned to performing in January 2026.
