Russian swimmer Egor Kornev set a world record at the World Cup in short water swimming in Tashkent. He won the 50m butterfly with 21.28 seconds.
The previous record belonged to the Swiss Noe Ponti, who covered this distance in 21.32 seconds.
The silver medal was won by Australian Isaac Cooper with a score of 21.96 seconds. Singaporean swimmer Teong Tsen Wei finished third.
Earlier, the international federation World Aquatics allowed Russian athletes to compete under its auspices with the national flag and anthem. The decision also applies to athletes from Belarus. Restrictions introduced in 2022 were lifted for participants in swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo competitions.
