The Russian judo team won the silver of the World Championship in the team tournament, which was held in Baku. In the final, the Russians lost to the team of Japan with the score 1: 4. Bronze awards went to the national teams of Uzbekistan and Georgia.
For the Russian team were Natalia Elkina and Irina Zueva (both in the weight category up to 57 kg), Tamara Lishchenko and Madina Taymazova (both up to 70 kg), Daria Rechkalova (over 70 kg), Buyan-Herel Sanaa (up to 73 kg), Mansur Lorsanov (up to 90 kg), as well as Tamerlan Basayev and Inal Tasoev (both over 90 kg).
The tournament of mixed teams was the last competition in the competitive program of the World Cup. Russian athletes performed on it with a flag and anthem.
Earlier it was reported that Kaprizov became the first Russian to score a hat-trick in the new season of the NHL.
